Tis the Season to be jolly

Tis the season to be jollly falala..lala... as the sog goes. Christmas  day today. Aside from the merry making, the sumptuous meals and the gathering of families, of course not to mention the early greetings of the carollers, christmas day seemed like any ordinary day. Gone is the christmas spirit. Gone are the annoying and frightful souds of fireworks. Somehow it's not as it used to be years back when..when poverty wasn't so rampant. When you see less people homeless and peniless on a christmas day nor in any ordinary day for that matter.
On my way home from work, i see a kid all curled up along the pavement. his flimsy and dirty shirt his only sheath from the cold early morning as he covered himself from head to ankles, his toes curling in under each one of them for warmth. It's sad to think that somewhere, maybe, the parents of this kid is out there celebrating, forgetting this lost child out to fend for himself. Sad to think that after all these years, the government hasn't done so much as find these kinds a decent job. so while they are still young, they can be spared from what hunger can do to their young minds ( killing, stealing and sniffing unwanted drugs) to keep the hunger at bay. It's sad to think that the parents of this kid, or any homeless person for that matter, would dare to fornicate so freely without thinking of the consequences thereafter. Each time i see these kids it pains me to see that they are suffering for someting they didn't choose. They didn't choose to be born and lead this kind of life. They didn't choose to be born that their parents hated them so much that they would be abandoned. It's a stab to the heart. If only there was something more that i could do....
